What will the world look like in 2050? How will the climate crisis
affect our
planet?
How
can climate crisis be effectively conveyed to different audiences via science communication? To
explore
answers to
these questions through the possibilities of art and technology, Communication and Design Department
students
produced short documentaries in the COD 301 Design Studio course for the “Climate 2050” project. By
making use
of
climate crisis data obtained from academic sources and UN reports, students applied visualization
techniques
such
as animation, stop-motion, and drawing, as well as using the possibilities of digital storytelling.
The number
of
films, which have attracted significant attention both at film festivals and in Özyeğin University's
events
focused
on sustainability, especially the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, has reached 35.

Stüdyosu dersinde iklim krizi verilerinin ışığında animasyon, stop-motion, çizim gibi görselleştirme
yeteneklerini
ve dijital hikaye anlatıcılığının imkanlarını kullanarak kısa belgeseller ürettiler. Hem film
festivallerinde
hem
de Özyeğin Üniversitesi’nin sürdürülebilirlik ve Birleşmiş Milletler Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma
Hedefleri
izindeki
etkinliklerinde yoğun ilgi gören filmlerin sayısı 35’e ulaştı.
